Auricular Fibrillation after Aspirin

چکیده

S = support of heart afforded by the pericardium T = tone of muscle. The support of the pericardium is due to the negative pressure in the pericardial cavity which I have shown is present in health. This negative pressure causes a suction action which keeps the pericardium right up against the heart save for the thin layer of pericardial fluid so necessary for lubrication. F varies directly with the pressure or nervous impulses, i.e., the greater the pressure the greater the tendency to failure or fibrillation. On the other hand, the greater the support, the less the tendency to failure.

A Case of Auricular Fibrillation after Aspirin

Some people are said to be very intolerant to aspirin and similar preparations. The symptoms usually noticed according to standard books on pharmacology are dyspnoea, a condition of collapse with slow weak pulse and subnormal temperature, cyanosis, rash, and giddiness. The production of auricular fibrillation after its administration, in an apparently healthy heart, appears to be rare. The foll...

The Relation of the Auricular Activity following Faradization of the Dog's Auricle to Abnormal Auricular Activity in Man

The tumultuous auricular activity which follows faradization of the auricles of mammals and which has been variously described, could be distinctly seen to consist almost constantly in our experiments on dogs of true fibrillatory movements of the separate muscle fibers coëxisting with a rapid auricular tachycardia. During peripheral stimulation of the right vagus nerve the true fibrillation alo...

e know that the risk of stroke is increased in patients with trial fibrillation (AF), presumably because stagnant blood ow within the left atrium leads to thrombus formation. mportantly, 90% of thrombi, when seen by echocardiograhy in patients with nonrheumatic AF, are located in the eft atrial appendage (LAA) (1,2). Standard treatment of atients with AF is anticoagulation with warfarin. If war...

Prevention of cardioembolic stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common cardiac arrhythmia and an important independent stroke risk factor, especially in the elderly. This article provides the reader with an overview as well as an update on primary and secondary stroke prevention strategies in patients with AF. Vitamin K antagonists remain the cornerstone therapy in AF patients at high risk of stroke. Both aspirin monothe...
